Coronavirus: Ethiopia 56 New Cases, 0 Fatalities

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 56 more Covid-19 cases as health officials resume offering vaccines to the public on Thursday.

In its report, the ministry of health says the new infections, identified from over 4, 550 people tested in the last twenty four hours, has brought the confirmed total to 471,145.

Only one patient has recuperated from Covid-19 in the reported period. The recovery count currently stands at 455, 809.

The report shows six severely sick patients are still in the hospital getting medical treatment. The patients are among 7, 822 confirmed active cases in the country, according to health officials.

They also reported zero covid related fatality, extending the number of days without confirmed death to three. The Covid-19 death toll remains at 7, 512.

The nation has also resumed offering covid vaccine, albeit at a small rate. The report shows over 600 doses of vaccine have been administered in the past 24-hours.

To date, Ethiopia has offered close to 29.45 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine. More than 24.5 million of its citizens are also fully vaccinated against the coronavirus with the help of two major vaccination campaigns authorities conducted since March, 2021.

The ministry of health is currently under preparation to launch a third-round nationwide vaccine drive, beginning the first week of June.
