COVID: Ethiopia Logs 49 New Cases, 48 Recoveries
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered 49 more Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, bringing the confirmed total to 471, 040, a ministry of health report shows.
The Ministry has also confirmed zero Covid-19 related fatalities on the day.
This comes a day after Ethiopia recorded the first Covid fatality in nearly four weeks. The national Covid death toll currently stands at 7,512.
The report also says at least 48 patients have recuperated from the acute respiratory illness in the last twenty-four hours, taking the recovery tally to 455, 806.
The nation’s confirmed active and severe cases total remains relatively stable. There are now 7, 720 confirmed active cases. Six of them are severely sick, the ministry says.
The data regarding national vaccine drive in the latest update also remains unchanged as the national vaccination pace continues to stall.
Ethiopia has administered close to 29.45 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine so far. Over 24.5 million of its citizens are also fully vaccinated against the coronavirus with the help of two major vaccination campaigns authorities conducted since March, 2021.
The ministry of health is currently under preparation to launch a third-round nationwide vaccine drive, beginning the first week of June.
