Ethiopia Records 38 Covid Cases, 0 Fatalities

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has reported 38 COVID-19 infections on Saturday as severe cases show slight increase, a Ministry of Health report shows.

The latest cases, confirmed from nearly 3,700 people tested in the last twenty-four hours, bring the national total to 470,899, says Ministry of Health.

The national recovery count also reached 455, 763 after only two Covid-19 patients recuperated from the disease today.

On the same day, two more patients admitted to hospital, bringing the severely sick Covid-19 patients tally to eight.

The patients are among 7,668 confirmed active cases in the country, the report indicates.

Despite a slight increase severe cases, the nation is still recording zero new Covid-induced deaths.

The ministry has confirmed that no one has died due to the acute respiratory illness in the last 24-hours.

The last Covid fatality was reported twenty-three days ago on April 20, 2022. Since then, the death toll remains at 7, 510.

Unlike yesterday, no shots of the Covid-19 vaccine has been given to the public in the last 24-hours as per the data from the Ministry of health.

Ethiopia started offering the Covid vaccine to its citizens in March, 2021. To date, it has administered 29.45 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine. More than 24.5 million Ethiopians are also fully vaccinated against the coronavirus.

Its health officials, who reviewed the previous two vaccine drives last week, plan to launch a third-round campaign next month.
