Ministry Logs 29 Covid Cases, 0 Fatalities over the Weekend

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 29 more novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) infections and zero related deaths over the weekend, data from the Ministry of health shows.

The positive cases have been identified from nearly 4, 800 people tested for Coronavirus on Saturday-Sunday, taking the confirmed total to 470, 434.



The weekend has also passed without a single Covid-19 related fatalities as the death toll stays at 7, 510, according to the ministry.

The ministry last reported a Coronavirus induced fatality on Wednesday, April 20, 2022.

The recoveries count has also reached 454, 968 after 304 patients recuperated from the acute respiratory disease on Saturday. Health officials reported zero recoveries on Sunday.

Fifteen severely sick patients are still under treatment in hospital, the ministry reports.
The patients are among the 7,955 confirmed active cases in the nation.

Health experts are still advising the public to be vigilant and follow the Covid protocols including wearing face masks when in crowded places as well as taking the Covid-19 vaccine shots.



The vaccination pace, however, is still at a standstill.

Health officials’ updates for both days show that the nation has not administered a single dose of Covid-19 vaccine in the entire 48-hours.

The East African nation has administered over 29.41 doses of the vaccine so far. More than 24.5 million Ethiopians are also fully vaccinated against the virus, the Ministry reports.

The first Covid-19 vaccine was given in Ethiopia on March 13, 2021.
