Coronavirus: Ethiopia Logs 43 New Cases, 0 Deaths
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 43 new Covid-19 infections and zero related fatalities on Wednesday, reports the ministry of health.
The new infections, identified from 4, 855 tests conducted in the past twenty-four hours, make the confirmed active cases tally to rise slightly to 9, 043.
Only 11 patients have recovered from the disease in the same period, says the report.
The number of days without Covid-19-induced fatalities has also extended to four with the ministry reporting zero deaths on Wednesday.
However, seventeen severely sick patients are still in hospital, getting treatment, notes the report that put the total confirmed cases at 9, 043.
– Vaccine Drive at standstill –
No additional dose of covid vaccine has been administered in the past twenty-four hours with the ministry reporting similar data regarding its vaccine drive.
Ethiopia has administered over 29.41 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine. Over 24.5 million people are also fully vaccinated against the virus.
The vaccination campaign started a year after health officials reported Ethiopia’s first Coronavirus case in March, 2020.
Since then, it has confirmed 470, 151 cases. About 453, 597 have already recovered, the ministry reports.
