Ethiopia Sees Zero Covid Deaths as Recovery Exceeds 450, 000

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered zero Covid-19 related fatalities on Tuesday as the more patients continue to recovery from the disease.

In its report today, the ministry of health says the death toll stays at 7, 508 after recording zero Covid-19 related fatalities on the day.

According to the report, 36 more people have tested positive for the Coronavirus from nearly 5,600 tests conducted in the past twenty four hours.

The new infections have brought the confirmed cases total in the nation to 469, 879.

As many as 1, 010 patients have also recuperated from the acute respiratory disease in the reported period, taking the recovery tally to 450, 425.

The continued significant rise in recovery trend has also helped the nation to bring its confirmed active cases total down to 11, 944.

The severe cases tally stays the same as the previous day with at least 15 severely sick patients remains at the hospital, the report shows.

– Vaccination at a standstill –

The Ministry conducted two rounds of nationwide Covid-19 vaccination campaigns, which significantly increased coverage.

However, the vaccination pace is now a stand still as the vaccine shots given in the nation stays the same for five consecutive days.

The report says Ethiopia has administered 29.41mln doses of Covid-19 vaccine. More than 24.5 million people also are fully vaccinated against the virus.

The ministry of health launched the vaccination campaign on March 13, 2021 after receiving 2.2 million doses of vaccine from the COVAX.
