Ethiopia Sees Zero Covid Fatalities, Vaccination Pace Stagnates
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia on Sunday registered zero Covid-19 disease related deaths and 13 new cases, reported the ministry of health.
The nation’s death toll remains at 7, 504, according to the Ministry’s Covid report.
At least 13 people tested positive for the Coronavirus infections from over 2,600 tests conducted on the day.
The report said the latest figure took the confirmed cases total to 469, 819.
About 447, 542 of these patients have already recuperated from the disease with the addition of 1, 966 of recoveries on Sunday
There are now 14, 771 confirmed active cases in the nation. Of these, 16 are severely sick, said the report.
– Vaccination Pace Slows –
The Ministry conducted two rounds of nationwide Covid-19 vaccination campaigns, which significantly increased coverage.
However, the vaccination pace has stagnated with data the ministry published regarding the vaccine shots given remained unchanged for the past four days.
The nation has administered at 29.41 million doses of Covid vaccine, the report said. More than 24.5 million Ethiopians are also fully vaccinated against the virus.
The ministry of health launched the vaccination campaign in Ethiopia on March 13, 2021 after receiving 2.2 million doses of vaccine from the COVAX.
