Ethiopia Logs 24 Covid New Cases, 4 Deaths
ADDIS ABABA – The number of confirmed active cases of Covid-19 in Ethiopia has continued to drop as the nation registers 24 more infections and 4 fatalities on Monday.
The country identified the latest positive cases after testing over 4,500 people in the past twenty-four, a ministry of health report says.
This has brought the nation’s confirmed cases tally to 469, 843.
About 449, 415 patients have already recuperated from the disease. Over 1,800 of them have recovered in the past 24-hours, says the report.
The increasing recovery pace is bringing the active cases count to drop further. There are now 12, 918 confirmed active cases of Covid-19 in the country, the report notes.
The report, however, claims that four people have died due to the acute respiratory illness, pushing the death toll to 7,805.
At least 15 patients are seriously ill and are receiving medical treatments in the ICU, the report says.
The Ministry of Health is still advising the public to remain vigilant and follow protocols including wearing face masks when in gatherings.
However, the report reveals that not a single dose of the Covid-19 vaccine has been administered in the reported period as the vaccine drive remains at stand still.
Ethiopia launched the vaccination campaign on March 13, 2021.
To date, it has administered 29.41 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine. More than 24.5 million its citizens are also fully immunized against the virus.
