Ethiopia Sees No Covid Deaths for Two Days in a Row

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded zero Covid-19 disease related deaths for the second consecutive day, data from the Ministry of Health reveals on Friday.

This is for the seventh day that the nation has registered zero Covid-related fatalities since the start of March.



The national Covid-induced death toll currently stands at 7, 488, the report shows.

The Ministry has also reported more recoveries than new cases in the past twenty-four hours.

At least 42 patients have recuperated from the disease while 26 people tested positive for Coronavirus in the reported period.

There are 40, 325 confirmed active cases in the country, and of which, 47 patients are severely sick, the Ministry notes.

Health officials have also pushed ahead with its national immunization campaign in the reported period.



Over 58, 500 doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been given to the public on the day, the ministry reports.

The new figure has pushed the total of shots administered in Ethiopia close to 29.17 million.

As many as 24.4 million Ethiopians have also been fully vaccinated.

The East African nation confirmed its first Coronavirus case two years ago, in March 2020.

Since then, it has identified 469, 419 infections. About 421, 600 patients have already recovered from the disease.
