Covid-19: Vaccine Shots Given in Ethiopia Reaches 29mln

ADDIS ABABA – The cumulative number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered in Ethiopia reached 29 million on Wednesday.

The East African nation started offering the Covid vaccine to its citizens in March, 2021.



In its daily report, the ministry of health says the country has administered a total of 29, 070, 987 shots of Covid-19 vaccine.

Nearly 73, 000 of them have been given in the last twenty-four hours, the report reveals .

More than 24.3 million Ethiopians have also been fully vaccinated against the virus.

– 38 More Cases –

The report says the nation has registered 38 new cases after testing nearly 4,800 people in the last 24-hours.

Two more Coronavirus-induced fatalities have also been recorded in the reported period, pushing the Covid death toll to 7,488.



Only 40 patients have recuperated from the acute respiratory disease. The recovery count now stands at 421, 540.

Currently, there are 40, 299 active cases in the country, says the report.

At least 47 Covid patients are severely sick and are receiving medical treatments, the report says.

Ethiopia, which confirmed its first Coronavirus case in March 2020, has registered 469, 329 cases after conducting close to 4.6 million tests.
