Ethiopia Registers 69 New Covid Cases, 4 Fatalities

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 69 fresh cases of Covid-19 and four related fatalities on Thursday, a ministry of health report says.

The latest daily cases, identified from over 5,500 people tested in the past twenty-four hours, takes the confirmed Covid total to 468,564.

The report says four more people have passed away due to Covid-19 in the reported period, pushing the death toll to 7, 450.

Its active case poos has also continued to drop significantly for two days in a row as more people recover.

As many as 1,675 patients have recouped from the disease in the last 24 hours, the report says.

This has taken down the active cases to 47, 846. Of these, 102 patients are seriously ill and are getting medical attention in hospitals.

Health officials have also continued to push ahead with their vaccine drive on Thursday.

About 557, 000 doses of the Covid vaccine have been offered to the public in the past 24-hours, says the report.

To date, Ethiopia has administered more than 22.4 million doses of the virus while its fully vaccinating citizens reach nearly 18.5 million.
