Ethiopia Registers 650 New Covid Cases, 14 Fatalities

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia’s Covid-19 cases total has reached 461, 252 after its Ministry of Health reported 650 fresh infections on Friday.

The country confirmed the latest positive cases after testing 6, 244 people in the past twenty-four hours, says the ministry’s report.

Twelve more Coronavirus-induced deaths have also been registered in the same period, taking the death toll to 7, 226.

There are now 387 severely sick patients receiving medical treatments in hospitals, claims the report that puts the national active cases at 71, 443.

At least 1,907 patients have also recuperated from the acute respiratory disease in the last 24-hours.

The report says the national recovery tally currently stands at 382, 581, according to the report.

The national vaccine drive stagnates as the number of the Covid-19 vaccine given to the public remains the same on the ministry’s report for two consecutive days.

The East African nation started providing the Covid-19 vaccine to its citizens on March 13, 2021 – a week after it received 2.2 million AstraZeneca vaccines from the COVAX Facility.

Since then, it has administered nearly 11 million doses to the public while immunizing close to 9.37 million people fully.
