Ethiopia Consults African Envoys on hosting 35th AU Summit

ADDIS ABABA – Foreign Ministry of Ethiopia on Thursday held a consultative meeting with African Ambassadors and diplomats on hosting the upcoming 35th African Union Summit in Addis Ababa.

The Ministry’s Neighboring Countries and IGAD affairs Director-General. Fissaha Shawel, and the Director-General for Northern, Western, Central, and Southern African Affairs. Aklilu Kebede, led the meeting detailing preparations made to host the meeting.



Besides readying all the necessary services to host the meeting, they said the government set up COVID testing and vaccination health centers to secure the safety of attendees.

The Ministry officials commended the unwavering solidarity of Africans shown to Ethiopia on various occasions.



The two officials urged the diplomats to inform their respective countries regarding the core issues discussed at the meeting.

Summit schedule

The 35th AU Summit is scheduled to be held from,

– Jan 20 to 21, 2022: 43rd Ordinary Session of the Permanent Representative Committee or PRC (Ambassadors)

– Feb 02 to 03 February 2022: 40th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council (Ministerial Session)

– Feb 05 to 06, 2022: 35th ordinary Session of the AU Assembly (Heads of State and Government Session)
