ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopian Red Cross society and its partner, ICRC, signed a 180 million Birr operational cooperation agreement with an aim to deliver humanitarian response for conflict-affected communities in the country.
The agreement was signed by Secretary General of ERCS, Getachew Ta’a, and head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Delegation in Ethiopia, Nicolas Von Arx, on Tuesday.
Secretary General Getachew said the long standing partnership of the two sides on emergency responses, development activities, capacity building and rehabilitation works.
Today’s agreement affirms the Red Cross intervention in places where the humanitarian need is high, he added.
The two sides addressed half a million people through non-food items and cash distribution in the year 2021, according to the ICRC Delegation in Ethiopia.
In the same period, Ethiopian Red Cross together with its partners food and non-food items worth more than Birr 585 million to more than 3 million beneficiaries, claims the ERC.
