Eight Died after Head-on Crash in North Shewa Zone
ADDIS ABABA – Eight people were killed in a head-on crash collision between a minibus and a truck in North Shewa zone of Oromia region, Police say.
The crash happened at approximately 09:00 a.m., today,in an area called Gedem District, located some 86 kilometre north of Addis Ababa.
The public bus with 13 people aboard was going from Kuyu to Fitche Town when it collided with the truck heading in the opposite direction carrying aid food, leaving eight passengers dead.
Nine others suffered serious injuries, said deputy inspector Tadesse Lejissa, head of traffic control division head of North Shoa District Police Department, speaking to FBC.
The victims were rushed to Fitche Hospital for treatment.
Police arrested the driver of the truck as they continue to investigate to know the cause of the accident.
