Woman Dies, 19 Others Injured in Traffic Accident in Jimma Zone
ADDIS ABABA – A woman died while 19 others were injured after an old Toyota landcruiser ploughed through a market in Jimma Zone of Oromia region.
The accident occurred in Gatra Town of the Zone at midday today during which the speeding car lost control and rammed into a market place.
A 50-year old women died instantly while 19 people seriously injured, inspector Ismael Eirgete, head of Investigation unit of Gatra Town Police, told FBC.
The police rushed the injured people to Agaro and Agaro hospitals for treatment, said the Inspector.
The condition of 10 injured people was said to be critical.
Officers investigating the incident are now the hunt for the driver of the car who flee the scene after the accident.
Their Preliminary report attributed the cause of the accident to a faulty brake system.
