Israel Mining Firm Leica Geosystems Vows to Operating in Ethiopia

ADDIS ABABA – Senior management officials of Leica Geosystems, an Isreali mining firm, pledged their commitment to continue their investment and operation in Ethiopia.

The officials of the company that invested on Mining, Innovation & Technology sectors in Ethiopia said this during their meeting with the Minister of Mines, Takele Uma, along with Reta Alemu, Ambassador of Israel to Ethiopia, on Tuesday.

In the discussion, the officials of Leica Geosystems expressed the company’s commitment to continue investing in Ethiopia, said the Ministry of Mine in a statement issued after the meeting.

Mining minister Takele expressed his gratitude to the officials of the company for “standing with the Ethiopian people and government” during the difficult time his country is going through.

He also stressed that the private sector would remain key in Ethiopia’s current economic reform agenda.

Ambassador Reta has also called the participation of Israeli companies in Ethiopia’s mining sector as encouraging.

Ethiopia and Israel have a long standing historical ties. The participation of the Israeli private sectors in Ethiopia would further strengthen ther overall relationship, the ambassador added.

Later that day, the Ambassador Reta Alemu, and the israeli investors visited Ethiopian Airlines State-of-the-art facilities including Ethiopian Aviation Academy, Aircraft Simulators and Innovation hub.
