Covid-19: Ethiopia Records 155 New Infections, 10 Deaths
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 155 new novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) infections on Sunday after testing 4, 300 people.
Ten more people have also lost their lives due to the acute respiratory disease in the same day, taking the national death toll to 6, 682, said the ministry of health in its daily report.
There are 260 severe cases in the country, says the report that puts the national confirmed active cases at 16, 639.
It also confirms at least 205 patients have recuperated from the disease on Saturday, taking the recovery tally to 346, 877.
Ethiopia confirmed its first Covid-19 case in March, last year. Since then, it has identified about 370, 200 infections after conducting nearly 3.82 million tests.
Its health officials are still strongly urging the public to observe the health protocols put in place to tackle the pandemic including wearing face masks.
They are also pushing ahead with the national immunization campaign.
On Sunday, a total of 143,394 doses of Covid-19 vaccine were offered to the public, reports the Ministry which has so far administered 5.46 million doses.
Health officials started the vaccination drive on March 13, 2021. To date, they have fully inoculated more than four million people against the Coronavirus.
