Coronavirus: Ethiopia Reports 327 New Infections, 826 Recoveries

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 327 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday, reports the ministry of health, after testing 7, 341 people in the last twenty-four hours.

In its daily report, the ministry says the country recorded 15 additional coronavirus-induced deaths and 826 more recoveries in the same period, bringing the national death toll to 6, 509 and recoveries tally to 342, 238.



There are now 420 seriously ill Covid-19 patients nationwide, says the report. They are among 17, 675 confirmed active cases in the country.

The East African nation confirmed its first Covid-19 case in March, last year. To date, it has confirmed 366, 424 infections after testing more than 3.72 million people.

Vaccination Push

Its Health officials are currently carrying out a nationwide immunization campaign as they continue to urge the public to observe health protocols put forward to tackle the pandemic.



The country has so far administered nearly 5 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines to the public.

And more than 40, 800 doses were offered to the public in the past 24-hours, data from the ministry reveals.

The ministry started the ongoing vaccination drive on March 13, 2021. Since then, a total of 3, 634, 219 people have been fully vaccinated, today’s report shows.

Ethiopia’s immunization push a range of vaccines including AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson and Sinopharm vaccines and targets to immunize at least 22 million people by January.
