Addis Ababa Police Conducting Arms Registration

ADDIS ABABA – Addis Ababa City Police Commission has continued registering arms in possession of residents in the capital.

Issuing the notice on Tuesday, the Commission advised residents to work together to protect their surroundings in a way that takes the current security situation of the country into consideration.

Police also told all individuals to register their firearms legally in order to protect themselves and their surroundings.

The commission initially gave a two-day period for anyone to register their firearm in person at the 11th Sub-City Police Department and at all police stations.

The period has been extended by a day and registration is expected to continue until the end of the office hours of November 4, 2021.

Police said those who failed to to register their arms will be accountable as per the newly approved state of emergency law.
