COVID-19: Ethiopia Records 1, 166 New Cases, 45 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered 1, 166 more novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases and 45 fatalities on Thursday.

In its daily Covid-19 report, the ministry of Health reports the country conducted more than 9, 500 tests to identify the latest positive cases in the last twenty-four hours.

A further 45 Covid-19 patients have passed away in the same period, taking the death toll to 5, 888.

There are now 26, 625 confirmed active cases nationwide. Of which, 749 patients are severely sick, the report claims.

Some 1, 093 patients have recuperated from the acute respiratory disease in the reported period, bringing country’s recovery count to nearly 320, 000.

Health officials are urging the public to take the Covid-19 vaccine made available in health centers to protect themselves and their loved ones, apart from practicing the Covid-19 protocols put in place.

Nearly 28, 000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered on Sunday, the report shows.
Ethiopia started to inoculate its citizens on March 13, 2021.

To date, it has vaccinated more than 2.94 people against Covid-19 while over 3.85 million doses of vaccine offered.
