Ethio Telecom Expands 4G Service in 8 towns
ADDIS ABABA – Ethio Telecom on Thursday said it has expanded its 4G LTE advanced service to eight central towns and cities of Ethiopia including Debre Berhan city.
CEO of the Company, Frehiwot Tamiru announced the launch the service in Debre Berhan. The towns and cities where the advanced network coverage expanded include Fiche, Shewa Robit, Sululta, Sheno, Sendafa, Gerba Guracha and Legetafo.
The telecom firm says the high bandwidth, high-speed features and reliable data services of 4G LTE will enable and empower its customers to digitize their services, increase productivity and improve their experiences.
Ethio telecom has so far expanded the 4G LTE service in 86 towns and cities across the nation.
The company partnered with the Chinese telecom firm Huawei to expand the service which will give advanced network coverage for towns, and the industrial companies based in the Central Nornertern Region.
CEO of Huawei Ethiopia Chen Mingliang said “2021 is a difficult year, COVID 19 is still aggressive and we are also facing many challenges from different aspects. However, our partnership between Ethio telecom and Huawei became closer during all the tests.”
Frehiwot, on her part said “I would like to congratulate our strategic partner Huawei for your best effort in delivering this project and render service for our esteemed customers.”
With the dedicated and firm bond, Huawei and Ethio Telecom have made history by becoming the fastest user increment operator globally.
“We delivered the fastest 4G advanced LTE project in most of the regions and brought digital to all the people of Ethiopia,” Chen told the gathering.
In addition to an expansion of the 4G service, Huawei Ethiopia supported Ethio Telecom to launch telebirr service and established the biggest tier-III ready Modular Data Center in Ethiopia for Ethio Telecom.
