Covid-19: Ethiopia Confirms 1,621 New Cases, 13 Fatalities
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 1,621 new novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases and 13 related fatalities on Thursday, Ministry of Health reports.
At least 10, 620 people have been tested in the past twenty-four hours to find the latest infections, says the ministry in its daily Covid-19 report.
Additional 13 Covid-19 patients have also passed away due to the disease in the reported period, pushing the national death toll to 4, 606.
Currently, there are 561 severely sick Covid-19 patients receiving medical attention in hospitals, indicates the report. These patients are among the 25,286 confirmed active cases in Ethiopia.
The report also shows more than 700 patients have recuperated from the respiratory disease on the day, bringing the recovery count to 271,819.
To date, Ethiopia has tested more than 3.2 million people to confirm 301,713 infections.
On Thursday, its health officials continued to push ahead with their immunization campaign which saw more than 3, 800 people vaccinated against Covid-19.
Ethiopia launched the vaccination campaign on March 13 – a week after they received 2.2 million AstraZeneca vaccines from the COVAX Facility.
Since then, nearly 2.4 million doses have been offered to the public across the nation.
