Ethiopia Registers 440 New Covid-19 Cases, 4 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered 467 more novel coronavirus (Covid-19) cases and four fatalities on Monday, a report by the Ministry of Health reveals.

At least 5,610 tests have been conducted in the past twenty-four hours to identify the latest positive cases, shows the report.

Four more patients have also died due to the acute respiratory disease in the reported period, pushing the national death toll to 4, 430.

The country currently has 15, 426 active cases, of which 302 patients are severely ill, says the report.

It also claims only 56 Covid-19 patients have recuperated from the disease in the 24-hours.

Ethiopia recorded its first Coronavirus infection on March 13, last year. Since then, it has conducted more than 3.07 million tests and confirmed over 284, 531 cases. About 264,673 of these patients have already recovered, today’s report shows.

As part of its response to control the pandemic, the country is carrying out an immunization campaign at the national level.

As much as 15, 717 people have been inoculated against Covid-19 today, bringing the total number of vaccine doses offered in the country to more than 2.28 million, the today’s report shows.

The East African nation launched its vaccination push on March 13 – a week after its health officials obtained 2.2 million AstraZeneca vaccine doses from the COVAX Facility.
