ADDIS ABABA – The Federal Attorney General on Friday said it has filed charges against Debretsion Gebremichael, and 61 others officials of TPLF.
In a statement today, the Attorney General The list includes high profile members of the Central Committee of TPLF and the regional government cabinet.
In addition, individuals who were in charge of various organizations, including EFFORT business group and Tigray Election Commission, and, had “great involvement in armed attacks” are among the 66 people charged by the AJ.
The charges are based on two criminal acts, says the AJ’s statement.
The first is the overthrowing of a constitutionally established and legitimate regional government through violence and illegal ways.
The second charge is engaging to oust the federal government by organizing a special force and attacking the National Defense Force of Ethiopia.
According to the Attorney General, several evidences, including 510 witnesses and 5329 page-long documents, have been submitted to the anti-terror and constitutional affairs bench of the Ethiopian Federal High Court.
The court gave orders to the Federal prison dministration to present 20 defendants who are in currently under custody and Federal police to issue arrest warrant on the remaining accused individuals, the statement said.
The case has been adjourned until Monday, July 26, 2021.
