ADDIS ABABA – Ethio Telecom has launched 4G LTE service in eight more cities and towns of Ethiopia on Tuesday as it continues to reach more areas where high mobile data traffic has been observed.
“We are proud to launch 4G LTE Advanced service in Southwest Region towns of Jimma, Agaro, Bedele, Bonga, Koysha, Metu, Mizan, Masha and Tepi,” the telecom firms announced.
The latest launch of the service in western Ethiopia has raised the total number of cities and towns within its 4G LTE coverage to 53.
CEO of Ethio Telecom Frehiwot Tamru said expansion of the service would accelerate the socio-economic reform in the country.
Firehiwot also said the system would help citizens use high definition (HD) applications as the expansion of the project has been a multipurpose function.
The state-owned telecom firm plans to launch the service in 50 more cities and towns in the near future.
