Ethiopian, Russian Firms Agree to Set up UAZ Cars Assembly in Ethiopia

ADDIS ABABA – The African Bazra Motors has agreed with Russia’s Ulyanovsk Automotive Plant  “UAZ” to set up a UAZ car assembly plant in Ethiopia, according to Russian embassy in Ethiopia.

The parties reached agreement following a delegation of Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant (UAZ) visited Ethiopia on April 21-26.

The Embassy confirmed that the delegation held negotiations with the leadership of the Ethiopian company .Bazra Motors’.

“A contract agreement was signed to organize the assembly and maintenance of a wide range of UAZ vehicles on the basis of “Bazra Motors” production facilities in the city of Kombolcha,” said the embassy.

The agreements stipulated the organisation of the meeting of cars through a large-knot approach to the production of Bazra Motors in Kombolcha, a town located 370km north of Addis Ababa.

In addition to all versions of ‘UAZ Patriot’, ‘Pickup’ and ‘Profi’, ‘Hunter’ off-road cars and vintage line models from the old loading rows will leave the meeting line.

Earlier this week, media reports claim that the company is expected to succeed in its nominal capacity of 3,000 production sets according to the year until the end of 2023.

The first batch of 64 device kits is scheduled for delivery in August of this year, according to the reports.
