COVID-19: Ethiopia Reports 1, 973 More Cases, 15 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded a total of 1973 new Coronavirus (COVID-19) infections on Friday, bringing the national confirmed case tally to more than 238, 000.

In its daily Covid-19 Report today, the Ministry of Health said the country has conducted nearly 7, 500 tests in the past twenty-four hours to identify the latest positive cases.



The report also claims at least 15 people have died due to the respiratory disease. The latest figure has pushed the national death toll to 3, 300.

Today’s hospitalization rate has dropped by 18 cases as compared to the previous day, the report shows.

There are now 1, 013 patients who are seriously ill and are getting medical treatment in intensive care units across the nation.

These patients are among the 57, 596 confirmed active cases in Ethiopia whose health officials recorded the highest confirmed coronavirus cases in the East African sub-region.

During the 24-hour period, health officials said a total of 1, 750 people have recuperated from COVID-19, bringing the national recovery tally to 177, 629.

Ethiopia confirmed its first coronavirus case on March 13, 2021. Since then it has reported 238, 527 infections after conducting more than 2.485mln medical tests. The test tally is one of the highest conducted in Africa.
