Ethiopia Confirms 2, 372 New Covid-19 Infections
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has confirmed at least 2, 372 more coronavirus (Covid-19) infections, Ministry of Health reported on Thursday.
In a daily Covid-19 report, the Ministry claimed nearly 8, 300 people have been tested in the past twenty-four hours to identify the positive cases.
A further 22 people have also passed away due to COVID-related complications, claims the report that put the national death toll at 2, 890.
During the 24-hours period, the rate of hospitalizations has shown a slight decrease as compared to the preceding day – which was 865.
At least 853 patients are currently getting treatment in COVID-19 hospital beds after they become severely ill, the report claims.
The patients are among the 46, 633 confirmed active cases nationwide.
In the past 24-hours, about 1, 327 people have recovered from the deadly respiratory disease. The figure has pushed the recovery tally, thus far, to 159, 436.
Ethiopia identified its first coronavirus case on March 13, 2020. Since then, it has confirmed a total of 208, 961 infections after conducting nearly 2.37mln tests.
