COVID-19: Ethiopia Registers 613 More Infections, 4 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has confirmed 613 new coronavirus infections on Thursday, pushing the total number of confirmed cases close to 145, 000.

Nearly 6, 000 medical tests have been conducted in the past twenty-four hours to identify the latest positive cases, health officials said in their daily covid-19 report.

The report also claims at least four people have died due to the virus in the same period, bringing the death toll to 2, 171. The first covid-related death reported in Ethiopia on April 5, 2020.

At least 239 of them have been hospitalized after becoming severely ill, indicates the report which puts the number of active cases in the country at 15, 067.

About 825 patients have recuperated from the respiratory disease during the 24-hours, the report says. The latest figures has taken the recovery tally to 127, 862.

The East African Nation identified its first coronavirus case on March 13, 2020. Since then, it has confirmed a total of 144, 862 cases after testing more than 2mln people.
