COVID-19: Ethiopia Registers 181 More Infections, 4 Deaths

ADDIS ABEBA – Ethiopia has recorded 181 new coronavirus infections on Tuesday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to nearly 132, 000.

Over 3, 600 medical tests have been conducted in the past twenty-four hours to identify the latest positive cases, the ministry of health said in its daily covid-19 report.



The report also confirms that four people have died due to the virus during the period, pushing the death toll to 2, 037. The first covid-related death reported in Ethiopia on April 5, 2020.

At least 231 of them have been hospitalized after becoming severely ill, indicates the report which puts the number of active cases in the country at 13, 296.

Only 57 have recuperated from the respiratory disease during the 24-hours, the report says.

The East African Nation identified its first coronavirus case on March 13, 2020. To date, it has tested nearly 1.9mln people and confirmed 131, 727 infections. At least 116, 392 of the cases have already recovered after contracting the virus.
