ADDIS ABEBA – The United States is set to provide 18 million US Dollars to support the rehabilitation activities in northern Ethiopia, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said.
“The U.S. is providing more than $18 million in humanitarian assistance to help refugees and host communities affected by the Tigray conflict,” announced Pompeo in a message on twitter.
Secretary of State Pompeo also said civilians must be protected from harm while urging for humanitarian to be “provided safe and unhindered access” to the affected areas.
More than 40, 000 Ethiopians fled to Sudan while many displaced internally due to a month long fighting in the Tigray region.
