Ethiopia Records 595 Covid-19 Cases, 9 Deaths

ADDIS ABEBA – At least 595 people have been confirmed positive for coronavirus in Ethiopia on Thursday, said the Ministry of Health.

The country identified the new positive cases after testing over 6, 500 people in the day, according to the Ministry’s daily covid report.

At least 9 people have also died due to Covid-19, a respiratory disease caused by coronavirus.

The figure has taken the total number of Covid-related deaths in Ethiopia, since the first two deaths reported on the second of April, to 1, 724

The ministry also said 317 patients have been hospitalized after falling critically ill. They are among 32, 468 confirmed active cases in the country.

The number of confirmed cases has continued to dwindle as many people continue to recover this week. Thursday’s report shows at least, 1, 318 patients regained their health within twenty-four hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 77, 385.

Ethiopia confirmed its first case of COVID-19 on March 13. Since then, health officials have tested more than 1.65 million people for the virus and confirmed 111,579 infections.
