Ethiopia Records 739 New Coronavirus Infections, 13 Deaths          

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 739 new cases of coronavirus on Thursday, pushing the number of confirmed cases to more than 87, 000, reports its health ministry.

The latest positive cases have been identified from nearly 7000 tests conducted over the past twenty-four hours.

A further 13 people have lost their lives due to COVID-19, a disease caused by coronavirus.

The ministry’s daily COVID-19 report the latest cases have brought the total number of cases to 87, 169 while death toll reaches at 1, 325.

There are now nearly 44, 854 active cases in the country. Of these, the Ministry of Health said 293 patients are “severely ill” and hospitalized for medical treatment.

The number of hospitalized patients have increased by more than 60 over the past twenty-four hours, according to the report.

The number of recoveries has surpassed new cases for two consecutive days.

According to the report, at least 858 patients of COVID-19 have recuperated, pushing the total number recoveries in the nation so far to 40, 165.

TheEast African nation reported its first case on March 13, Since then, it has tested over 1.37mln people.
