U.S. Provides $2.9mln worth of Equipment to Ethiopian Nat’l Defense Forces

ADDIS ABABA – The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) has provided 2.9 million US dollars worth of training and other equipment to its Ethiopian counterpart.

“Today, we are highlighting another aspect of the partnership between the United States and Ethiopia,” said the US embassy in Addis Ababa while announcing the donation on Tuesday.

The equipments will be used in Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF)’s effort to “disrupt the threats posed by al-Shabaab in Somalia and other terrorist organizations”, it added.

“This donation is just one way the U.S. government supports our Ethiopian partner forces in their fight against terrorism,” it stated.

Land cruisers, troop transports, ambulances, cargo and fuel trucks, water trailers, operations center computers, and night vision devices were among the equipment that ENDF received.
