COVID-19 Case Count Exceeds 70, 000 as Ethiopia Confirms 713 New Infections

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered 713 new COVID-19 infections on Tuesday, bringing confirmed cases tally to more than 70, 000, according to Ministry of Health’s daily report. 

The new cases have been identified after the country tested nearly 7, 000 people over the past twenty-four hours.

The Ministry also said 19 new deaths had been reported during the period, taking the tally since the start of the pandemic to 1, 127.

Ethiopia’s current active case count has now reached more than 40, 300. Of these, 251 are severely ill, reported the ministry. The number of seriously ill patients has significantly decreased from Monday’s 301 cases.

During the period, health officials also said 357 patients of COVID-19 have recovered from the respiratory disease. To date, nearly 29, 000 patients have recovered from the deadly respiratory illness caused by coronavirus.
