COVID-19: Ethiopia Records 689 New Cases, 7 Deaths           

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has reported 689 new coronavirus infections on Sunday, bringing the tally of confirmed cases to 68, 820, according to the Ministry of Health’s daily report today.

The country conducted over 8, 000 tests over the past twenty-four hours to identify the new positive cases, the report revealed.



Health officials also reported the death of additional 7 people due to the virus on the day, taking COVID-19 death toll to 1, 096.

There are now more than 39, 400 active cases in the country. Of these, the ministry said 290 patients are in severe condition.

During the reported period, a further 375 patients of COVID-19 have also recovered. To date, 28, 314 patients recovered from deadly disease caused by coronavirus.

The east African nation has tested more than 1.2 million people since health officials confirmed country’s first case on March 13, 2020.
