Ethiopia Adds 22 New Covid Cases, 117 Recoveries

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 22 more cases of Covid-19 as 117 patients recovered from the disease in the last twenty-four hours, according to the Ministry of Health report.

The report issued on Tuesday evening states that the patients diagnosed with the Coronavirus today take the confirmed tally to 493, 032.

The nation’s recovery count also has increased to 471,421 after 117 patients recuperated from the respiratory disease.

There are now 14, 038 confirmed active cases in the country, down by more than 90 from the previous day.

The severe cases count has also remained unchanged, as per the health ministry’s report. Fourteen seriously sick patients of Covid-19 are still getting medical treatment in the hospital.

The ministry has also not confirmed additional Covid-related fatalities in the 24 hours as the nation recorded zero death cases for nine consecutive days.

The disease has, however, claimed the lives of At least 7,571 Ethiopians since the first Covid-related death was confirmed in the country on April 5, 2020.

The report also indicates that not a single Covid vaccine shot has been given to the public in the last 24 hours as vaccine drive stalls.

Ethiopia started its Covid-19 vaccination campaign in March 2021.

To date, close to 52.6 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been administered nationwide. More than 43.1 million people have also received at least two shots of the vaccine.
