ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has reported 738 new coronavirus infections on Wednesday, bringing the tally of confirmed cases to 66, 224, data from the Ministry of Health revealed.
The country has conducted 8, 355 testes over the past twenty-four hours to identify the new positive cases of COVID-19 – a respiratory illness caused by coronavirus.
The ministry also recorded 10 more deaths during the period, pushing the death toll to 1, 045.
Currently, there are 38, 512 active cases in Ethiopia. Of these, 270 patients are in severe conditions, indicates the ministry’s daily report.
It also says at least 677 patients of COVID-19 have recovered during the period. To date, 26, 665 people have recuperated from the disease.
The East African nation identified its first case on March 13. So far, the country tested over 1.65 mln individuals for coronavirus and confirmed more than 66, 000 including 1, 000 deaths.
