ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded the highest daily increase of COVID-19 infection with health officials identified 399 more cases on Saturday.
Previous highest daily records have all been below 300 infections.
About 4, 848 people tested for COVID-19 – a respiratory illness caused by coronavirus – over the past twenty-four hours.
The Ministry of Health confirmed that 399 people – 198 male and 204 female – within an age range of 4 to 85 years tested positive for the virus.
All except one are Ethiopian citizens, says the ministry’s report without stating the nationality of the foreigner.
The ministry reported no death cases while claiming 95 people recovered from the disease. To date, 1122 patients who tested positive for COVID-19 have recovered.
The number of patients in severe conditions have reduced by two. Up to 30 patients – out of the 3, 273 active cases – are currently in Intensive Care Units.
The country confirmed its case on March 13. Health officials has tested the country 211, 870 individuals and confirmed 4469 positive cases including 72 deaths.
