Seven More COVID-19 Cases Reported in Ethiopia

ADDIS ABABA – The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Ethiopia increased to 92 with seven more people testing positive on Thursday.

Health officials have conducted a total of 401 laboratory tests over the past twenty-four hours.



“Of these, seven of them are confirmed positive for COVID-19,” said the ministry of health in its daily report published today.

It says all of the newly confirmed patients are Ethiopian nationals.

The report indicates, with the exception of a 14 years old patient whose case is currently “under investigation”, all of them are imported cases.

They were in mandatory quarantine upon returning from the United States (2), Sweden (2), Japan (1) and Belgium (1), according to the Ministry of Health.

The latest cases have increased the number of patients of COVID-19 in the treatment center to 72.

To date, 15 people have recovered while 3 died of the virus. Two foreign patients have already left for their country.

Since 12 March when Ethiopia’s first case was confirmed, close to 5, 400 laboratory tests have been conducted, according to the health ministry.
