Ethiopia’s Health Minister Amir Resigns

ADDIS ABEBA – Dr. Amir Ahmed announced today that he has resigned from his top position at the ministry of health.

Dr. Amir served as minister of health for a year and nine months. “I am writing this note of my departure from my post as a Minister of Health,” he announced on Thursday morning on his official social media account.

“It has been an exceptional honor to serve in a ministry that is entrusted with the health of all Ethiopians,” he said.

Dr. Amir does not explain what prompted his decision to step down from his position.

He was, however, “grateful for our prime minister, Abiy Ahmed for allowing me to serve the people of Ethiopia, for unwavering belief and firm faith in my works and for accepting my resignation,” he said in a statement he issued on Thursday.
