The 2023 world champion Gudaf Tsegay will compete at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston, its organizers confirmed.
The World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meeting is set to be held on Feb 4, 2024.
The Ethiopian has been one of the sport’s most successful and versatile athletes in recent seasons winning world titles at 1500m indoors, as well as 5000m and 10,000m outdoors. She also holds world records for 1500m indoors and 5000m outdoors.
In Boston, Gudaf headlines the women’s 1500m in her return to the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix for the first time since 2018.
Gudaf’s participation in the 2024 New Balance Indoor Grand Prix was confirmed along with two other reigning gold medalists from the 2023 World Athletics Championships – Grant Holloway and Marco Arop.
Holloway leads a strong 60m hurdles field in Boston and will be aiming for his third consecutive victory at this meeting. The three-time world 110m hurdles champion has been undefeated indoors for almost 10 years – a winning streak that dates back to his high school career.
Arop will also be making his third appearance at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix. The Canadian won the world 800m title in Budapest earlier this year. In Boston, Arop will take on world indoor champion Mariano Garcia of Spain and USA’s world indoor bronze medallist Bryce Hoppel.
