Ethiopian, Swedish FMs Discuss Issues of Mutual Interest

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign minister Demeke Mekonnen has held talks today with the Foreign Minister of Sweden, Tobias Billström.

The two ministers spoke over the phone on issues of mutual interest, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said in a statement today.

Demeke briefed his Swedish counterpart about the implementation of the Peace Process in northern Ethiopia.

He further highlighted the necessity of collaboration from partners in the rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts, as per MoFA’s statement.

Sweden’s top diplomat Billström, for his part, appreciated the peace process and underscored his country’s willingness to support it, the statement read.

Both parties stated that expanded engagements should be undertaken in order to further strengthen the long-standing ties between Ethiopia and Sweden, according to MoFA.
