ADDIS ABABA – Midroc Ethiopia Investment Group has increased its partnership with American hospitality company Marriott International with the signing of 3 Franchise agreements on Thursday.
According to the investment Group, the deals will introduce Marriott Protea and Four Points by Sheraton brands to Bahir Dar, and open another Four Points by Sheraton in Hawassa.
Jamal Ahmed, CEO of the Midroc Investment Group, expressed his delight at securing the franchise deals.
“We are excited to work with Marriott International as we continue to expand our long-standing partnership with this famous brand,” Jemal said.
The partnership deals will enable Midroc to relaunch its Tana Hotel in Bahir Dar, and Progress International hotel in Hawassa, under Marriott International’s Four Points by the Sheraton brand.
The group will also relaunch Blue Nile Resort, situated alongside Lake Tana in Bahir Dar, under Protea by the Marriott brand.
Karim Chelout, Regional Vice President Lodging Development for Marriott International in Africa, described the latest partnership with Midroc as significant.
“With this significant project, we are thrilled to grow our partnership with Midroc Investment Group and expand our presence in Ethiopia,” Chelout said.
The latest franchise agreements take the number of partnership deals Midroc and The Marriott signed in the past two years to four.
On Feb 13 last year, the two signed an agreement to manage the Westin Addis Hotel, located next to the African Union headquarters in the capital.
Midroc’s five-star hotel – Sheraton Addis – is also a part of Marriott’s Luxury Collection Brand.
Midroc Ethiopia Investment Group is a member of the MIDROC Group Companies owned by the prominent global businessman, Sheikh Mohammed Hussein Ali Al-Amoudi.
