Ethiopia, Jordan Discuss Investment in Mining Sector

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia and Jordan on Tuesday held a high-level discussion to explore investment opportunities in the mining sector in the East African nation.

Minister of Mines Takele Uma met with Prince Abbas Bin Ali Bin Nayef of Jordan and a delegation of United Capital at his office.

The two sides discussed investment opportunities for the development of Natural Gas and exploring other minerals in Ethiopia.

“We’ve agreed on a partnership and laid out the foundation to begin work immediately,” Takele said in a tweet.

Ethiopia has an estimated 7 trillion Cubic Feet (7TCF) untapped reserve in its Ogaden Basin.

Authorities are keen to utilize the resources for fertilizer and energy production.
