Invest Commission, Plan Ethiopia Join hands to Promote Youth Livelihood

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC) has entered into an agreement with Plan Ethiopia to jointly prompt youth livelihoods around Industrial Parks.

EIC Deputy Commissioner Daniel Teressa and Plan’s Deputy Country Director Hiwotie Simachew signed a strategic partnership Memorandum of Understanding on Thursday.

As per the agreement, the two institutions will jointly work through the promotion of skills opportunities and youth economic engagement and creating sustainable and decent jobs by attracting quality investment.

Over 20 industrial parks have so far been constructed and operationalized by the government alone to attract investors to Ethiopia.

“The engagement will strengthen and enhance quality of labor supply and retain labor around Industrial Parks through integrated community service support,” said EIC, an institution set up by the government to promote private investment.

Both officials of EIC and Plan expressed their eagerness to work together to improve workforce retention and create decent jobs and skilled labor supply.

Plan, a part of Plan Global Family, has been working in Ethiopia since 1974 on child-centered community development.
