Covid-19: Ethiopia Registers 62 New Infections, Zero Death

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 62 additional Covid-19 cases and zero related deaths today, according to the ministry of health’s latest report.

The new infections, confirmed from about 2,400 coronavirus tests conducted in the last twenty-four hours, take the positive cases identified in the nation so far to 491, 979.

Only 65 covid patients have also recuperated from the disease in the same period, says the ministry. The recovery count currently stands at 468,923.

Both the severe and active case tallies have remained relatively the same.

The East African nation currently has 15, 486 confirmed active cases. Of these, 33 patients are severely sick, the latest covid report shows.

The ministry has also reported zero fatalities related to coronavirus as the death total stays at 7, 568.

However, health officials are still urging the public to adhere to preventive measures in order to stop the spread of the virus.

Ethiopia has also been providing the covid vaccine since March 2021 to immunize its citizens from the virus.

To date, it has administered more than 52.52 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.

Over 43 million people have also been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, says the ministry of health which plans to expand the nation’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage to 60% by the end of next year.
