Ethiopia Records 151 New Covid Cases

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has logged 151 more Covid-19 cases and one related fatality in the last twenty-four hours, a ministry of health report shows.

The latest infections identified from 3500 people tested for coronavirus in the reported period have brought the nation’s confirmed total to 490,182.  

At least 68 patients also recovered from the disease, the lowest the country has recorded in nearly a month.

The recovery count currently stands at 466, 389, health officials say. There are now 16, 241 confirmed active cases nationwide.

One Coronavirus-related fatality has also been confirmed in the last 24 hours in the country where 7,550 succumbed to Covid disease.. 

Public Health experts are still urging the public to be vigilant as well as take the Covid vaccine shot to protect themselves and their loved ones..

However, no covid vaccine has been administered today, the latest update shows.

Ethiopia started offering Covid vaccine shots to its citizens in March of last year. Since then, it has administered over 52.2 million doses of the Covid vaccine. 

Close to 42.8 million people have fully vaccinated against the virus, says the ministry, which plans to reach 60% COVID-19 vaccination coverage by the end of 2023.
