Over 1, 150 Ethiopians Repatriated from Saudi Arabia today
ADDIS ABABA – More than 1, 150 Ethiopian nationals have returned home from Saudi Arabia on Friday, bringing the number of returnees this week to nearly 3, 200.
The repatriation push to bring nationals living in dire situations in the Gulf Nation conducted flights in three days this week.
Today, three flights aboard a combined total of 1,154 citizens have arrived at Addis Ababa airport, said the ministry of Women and Social Affairs.
At least 157 of the repatriates today are women, the ministry said.
The returnees have been taken to a shelter center and are now getting various support and care, it added
The government launched the repatriation effort to bring citizens from Saudi Arabia on March 30, 2022 with a plan to bring back 102, 000 citizens within months.
To date, at least 22, 600 citizens have been brought back to their country.
